Honors College Scholarships

The following scholarships are based on these criteria and requirements:

Incoming freshmen and new transfer students:
  • Must apply to the Honors College Honors College Application
  • Must be admitted to UTSA and to the Honors College
  • Deadline: February 15


Current Honors students:
  • Must apply with Current Student Scholarship Application unless otherwise noted
  • Separate applications for BJ’s Restaurants, Inc. and the Will and Mary Hathaway Scholarships
  • Deadline: January 2 & May 15

By fulfilling the application requirements, you will be entered into competition for all available scholarships whose eligibility criteria you meet.
Awarded Scholars must:
  1. have and maintain a 3.25 GPA or higher,
  2. complete a minimum of 3 hours of Honors coursework each semester,
  3. and must meet any additional requirements specified by the scholarship



Alpha Building Corporation Endowed Honors Scholarship in Construction Science and Management

Award: One award of $500 per year (renewable)

  • Must be majoring in construction science and management in the College of Architecture


Ardow Ameduri, M.D. Honors College Scholarship

Award: One award of $400 to $600 per year (renewable)

  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.50 or higher
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 24 hours of study at UTSA


AT&T Inc. Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $400 to $600 per year (renewable)

  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must demonstrate a spirit of volunteerism as demonstrated in resume


Bartlett Cocke General Contractors Endowed Honors Scholarship in Construction Science and Management

Award: One award of $500 to $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in construction science management in the College of Architecture
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)


The Benjamin Dean Holt III/Holt Companies Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 to $1,200 a year (renewable)

  • Maintaining minimum CUM GPA of 3.0 meets renewal criteria
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be majoring in mechanical engineering


BJ's Restaurants, Inc. Annual Scholarship

  • Preference will be given to veterans of the U.S. military
  • Must have an interest and/or experience in the food service industry, as evidenced by prior or current employment (full or part-time) in the food service industry
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.25 at the time of application
  • Must have completed 60 college credit hours at the time of application
  • Must be admitted to the Honors College at the time of application
  • Must be pursuing a B.B.A. degree

The Catto Endowed Scholarship Fund

Award: One award of $2,500 to $3,500 a year (renewable)

  • Entering freshmen must have graduated in top 10% of their class and have a minimum SAT score of 1000 or ACT of 21
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)


Debbie and John T. Montford Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $ 400 to $600 per year (renewable)



Dr. Ruskin C. Norman and Mrs. Karen Norman Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $400 to $600 per year (renewable)

  • Must be pursuing a degree in natural sciences


Great Conversation Honors Scholarship

Award: Up to 30 awards of $500 to $1,500 per year (nonrenewable)

  • Preference may be given to students with 3.5 or better, multiple Honors courses, and pursuing Highest Honors


H-E-B Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 to $800 per year (renewable)



The Hixon Family Endowed Scholarship

Award: One or two awards of $500 to $1,000 a year (renewable)

  • Maintaining minimum CUM GPA of 3.0 meets renewal criteria
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be actively pursuing a degree in the College of Business


India Asia Association of San Antonio Endowed Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 to $600 a year (renewable)

  • Recipient must demonstrate academic progress toward an undergraduate degree in four years
  • Must maintain minimum GPA of 3.0 and a class attendance rate of 95%
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be a freshman or sophomore student in the Honors College
  • Must submit essay demonstrating interest in Indian culture and philosophy
  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident alien of the U.S. or foreign student from India
  • Must have demonstrated an interest in India or Indian culture


Jacqueline Beretta Scholarship Fund

Award: Up to two awards of $500 to $1,250 per year (renewable)

  • Must submit an essay with Honors College application
  • Transfer applicants must have a GPA of 3.5
  • Fall incoming freshmen must be in the top 10% of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1175 or ACT score of 26
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA


Jeffrey S. Peterson Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 per year (renewable)

  • Preference will be given to students from traditionally underserved populations or who are first generation college students and are pursuing a degree in the technology fields
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)


Joeris General Contractors, Ltd. Endowed Honors Scholarship in Construction Science and Management

Award: One to two awards of $500 to $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be pursuing a degree in construction science and management in the College of Architecture


Lionel And Kathy Sosa Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 per year



Peter T. Flawn Presidential Honors Scholarship

Award: Eight to ten awards of $2,500 a year (renewable)

  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Must be pursuing a major in the College of Engineering or the College of Sciences
  • Incoming freshmen must be in the top 20 percent of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24


Presidential Honors Scholarship

Award: 80 awards of $1,500 a year (renewable)

  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Incoming freshmen must be in the top 20 percent of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24


Reverend Eddy And Mary Hall Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $400 to $600 per year (renewable)



Robert W. Flynn Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 to $1,000 per year (renewable)



The Sam And Ann Barshop Scholarships

Award: Up to two awards of $1,000 to $1,500 per year (renewable)

  • Among equally qualified candidates, preference shall be given to African-American students
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
  • Transfer students must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 or higher
  • Fall incoming freshmen must be in the top 10% of their high school class or have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA


Samuel A. And Pamela R. Kirkpatrick Endowed Presidential Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $1,000 to $1,500 per year (renewable)

  • Must have a record of community service and leadership


San Antonio Federal Credit Union Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 per year (renewable)

  • Must have a minimum CUM GPA of 3.5


South Texas Money Management, Ltd. Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $1,000 per year (renewable)

  • Additional consideration will be given to students from Mexico among equally qualified candidates


Steven and Jean Lee Endowed Scholarship

Award: One award of up to $1,500 per year (renewable)



Tino and Amelia Duran Endowed Scholarship

Award: One award of $1,00 to $2,000 per year (renewable)

  • Must be pursuing a major in the College of Liberal and Fine Arts
  • Must have encountered personal challenges requiring perseverance and determination to pursue an undergraduate degree
  • Must have financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Need
  • Must have successfully completed a minimum of 18 hours of study at UTSA
  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.30 or higher
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)


Wells Fargo Endowed Honors Scholarship

Award: One award of $500 per year (renewable)



Will and Mary Hathaway Honors Program Scholarship

Award: Up to seven awards of $1000

  • Must be a member of the Honors College
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must plan to attend post-graduate study
  • Must have a record of leadership and service while in college
  • Must not plan to graduate until Spring of the award year
  • Must have been enrolled full-time (12 hours) at UTSA for the Fall and Spring semesters of the academic year prior to award year
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours at the time of application
  • Must have a GPA of 3.50 or higher

William and Salomé Scanlan Endowed Scholarship

Award: Four to six awards of $5,000 to $7,500 per year

  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA
  • Must be enrolled in at least 15 credit hours each semester
  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien
  • Current and Transfer students must have a 3.0 GPA at time of application
  • Freshman applicants must have minimum test scores of 1830 on the 2400 SAT scale or an ACT score of 27
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by UTSA's Office of Student Financial Aid


William G. And Loyce Collenback Endowed Scholarship

Award: Up to three awards of $500 to $1,000 a year (renewable)

  • Must have remaining financial need or not qualify for need based aid
  • Must be enrolled full time (minimum 12 hours)
