Students who want to live on campus have a choice of housing that includes one residence hall and two living complexes. Each complex offers many services, including secured card access and police patrols. A vital part of learning comes from involvement and leadership opportunities outside the classroom. the student body of UTSA embraces that concept, creating a dynamic student leadership environment.

And it's easy to join because UTSA offers more than 160 student organizations, including academic groups, cultural and minority groups, honor societies, military groups, professional organizations, social sororities and fraternities, and the Student Government Association.

The transition from the high school classroom to the college classroom will be exciting, but can also be a bit intimidating. A Learning Community can help ease the transition process by grouping 25 students who share a common interest, major or field of study. These groups take two to three courses together each semester of their freshman year.

The Tomas Rivera Center provides academic support and promotes student success through advising the undecided student. It also offers learning assistance, academic coaching, tutoring and supplemental instruction. These services are free and offered in a comfortable setting.

UTSA is the only San Antonio college or university with a Division I NCAA program. The Roadrunners compete in 14 sports and won the 2004 Southland Conference titles in men's basketball and women's softball.

UTSA's new Recreation and Wellness Center at the 1604 Campus features cardiovascular and weight-lifting equipment, racquetball, volleyball and basketball courts, and aerobic rooms that offer 40 different fitness classes. The center, which is free to all students, is equipped with locker rooms and showers, massage therapy rooms, a CardioTheatre, a demonstration kitchen and a climbing wall. Future amenities include an indoor pool and a smoothie bar.
