Correspondence Testing

PLEASE NOTE: For the 2014-2015 school year, both Main and Downtown Campuses will begin taking test requests September 2, 2014. The first test date will be September 16, 2014. We will NOT take any test requests after April 7, 2015. The last day to take a correspondence test will be April 21, 2015.

Correspondence testing is offered to UTSA students and non-UTSA students who are taking academic courses at other colleges/universities and are required to have their exams (such as mid-terms and finals) proctored at a testing facility. Dates are available from September - April only. The Testing Services offices must be contacted at least three (3) weeks prior to any proposed exam date. The Main Campus (1604) office provides this service on Tuesdays at 8:30 am. Test fees are payable online through the link below prior to the day of the scheduled exam.

Correspondence testing does not include exams that are to be taken for admissions requirements into a program or university or any state or university certification exams.

What information should I give Testing Services when I e-mail?
The Testing Services staff will need to know:

  • If you are a current UTSA student and your contact phone # & e-mail address
  • The institution the test is originating from along with your instructor's name and contact e-mail address
  • The type of exam (i.e. paper/pencil or computerized)
  • How much time is allowed for the exam
  • If there are any special accommodations
  • A proposed Tuesday test date (Testing Services requires at least three (3) weeks notice.)

What are my responsibilities once a tentative testing appointment has been set?

Once Testing Services has a tentative agreement with a student to proctor an exam, it is the student's responsibility to make sure:

  • The originating institution has mailed the exam to Testing Services. You or the originating institution must also provide a postage-paid envelope in order to return the completed exam.
  • UTSA has received the exam at least five (5) business days prior to the exam date. If UTSA has not received the exam at least five (5) business days prior to the scheduled date, the exam is subject to rescheduling due to staffing obligations. This requirement applies to exams being sent by fax, mail, or electronic methods.
  • To contact us once the exam has arrived to confirm the scheduled test time.

As the student seeking to add official documents to your academic record, it is your responsibility to make contact with the Testing Services personnel and confirm your test is ready to proceed. A lack of communication (not responding to e-mails or phone calls from the proctor) or communicating through a third party (having a parent, guardian, or instructor contact on your behalf only) means you are choosing not to test at UTSA.

How much will it cost me?

Currently registered UTSA students pay a $10 proctoring fee. All other examinees pay a $20 fee. All fees are due prior to examinee testing. Payment must be completed online through the links below. Only make payment if your exam date has been confirmed by a Testing Services Office staff member. All exam fees are non-refundable. Once exam fees are paid online, no reimbursement will be made.

On Test Day

Please arrive 30-minutes prior to start time, bring a valid photo ID, receipt of fee payment and any approved materials needed for your specific exam.

Testing Services is located in the Multidisciplinary Studies Building, Room 1.01.04 (Main) or Buena Vista Bldg, Room 1.302 (DT).
