What to do on Commencement Day

Friday, December 19 at 4:00 p.m.
College of Engineering, College of Liberal & Fine Arts, and University College

  • Arrive at the Convention Center at 2 p.m. (doors open for guests at this time also) for check-in and lineup. If you are not on time, you may forfeit your right to walk the stage. The ceremony will begin at 4 p.m.
  • Graduates will check in and pick up their name card, fill out the back of the card for photo information, and proceed to line up in numerical order as indicated on the card.
  • Please do not bring belongings (purses, bags, etc.) with you to check-in. There will not be a coat check available.
  • Graduates and guests will enter through the main entrance from Market Street.
  • Once in the Convention Center, graduates will follow designated signs to find the assigned check-in location.
  • All names will be called. The ceremony will last approximately 2—2.5 hours.
  • Students are required to remain in their seats throughout the entire ceremony.
  • After the ceremony, please exit the Convention Center immediately to meet your friends and family at the Main Entrance. No re-entry will be allowed.

Saturday, December 20 at 10:00 am
College Education & Human Development and College of Sciences

  • Arrive at the Convention Center at 8 a.m. (doors open for guests at this time also) for check-in and lineup. If you are not on time, you may forfeit your right to walk the stage. The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m
  • Graduates will check in and pick up their name card, fill out the back of the card for photo information, and proceed to line up in numerical order as indicated on the card.
  • Please do not bring belongings (purses, bags, etc.) with you to check-in. There will not be a coat check available.
  • Graduates and guests will enter through the main entrance from Market Street.

Services for Graduates with Disabilities

Degree candidates with disabilities who need accommodations to participate in their Commencement ceremony, are asked to contact Sally Crouser in the Special Events Center. The office is open 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday- Friday. Please call 210-458-6110, or send an email to commencement@utsa.edu to further discuss accommodation possibilities.

Accommodation requests must be made by Friday, December 12, 2014. While every effort will be made to make accommodations, the university may be unable to fulfill last-minute requests.
