College of Public Policy

Dr. Jesse T. Zapata, DeanLocated at UTSA Downtown, the College of Public Policy is currently comprised of the undergraduate criminal justice program, graduate justice policy, public administration, social work, and applied demography programs. While courses in existing programs are offered at the Downtown Campus and at the 1604 campus, both current and future programs have the potential to benefit greatly from their primary location at the Downtown Campus. In addition, the Center for Policy Studies is housed within the College. The newly established Center focuses on interdisciplinary policy studies that will be a major contribution to San Antonio and the Southwest.

The mission of the College of Public Policy is to improve society’s capacity to anticipate and effectively respond to salient public policy issues. The College of Public Policy accomplishes this mission through: academic research and analysis that develops theory, informs public policy, and improves program services; rigorous educational programs that prepare graduates for leadership and professional practice in public policy fields; and collaborative interdisciplinary partnerships that contribute to the public good in a diverse society.
