Welcome to REACT-STEM

Goal

The overall goal of the REACT-STEM program is to enhance educational opportunities for former community college students and thereby increase the number of ethnically and financially disadvantaged students who complete Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology & Immunology, or Physics undergraduate degrees and enter the scientific workforce or graduate education.

The REACT-STEM Program has been completed and is no longer active

Retaining Emerging Alamo College Talent in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (REACT-STEM) is a scholarship program that provides financial support and facilitates community college student transfer and transition to UTSA, while promoting academic excellence and STEM career development.

REACT Scholars are primarily recruited from regional community colleges, with particular emphasis on participants of the Alamo Colleges LSAMP CIMA program.

Additional support is provided by connection with the UTSA Honors College, the Tomas Rivera Center, and the University Career Center.

REACT Scholars are introduced to career paths in the sciences and are encouraged to engage in research training programs and internships. An individual development plan guides each Scholar to relevant training sessions and activities.
