Endowments play vital role at UTSA

Endowment income is an increasingly vital revenue source of many college and university budgets, and that is certainly the case at UTSA. Building the endowment at the University is an institutional priority being led by Vice President for University Advancement Marjie M. French and advancement team.

As of January 31, 2008, UTSA had 257 separate endowments with a total market value of $55,555,967.91. That compares to 98 endowments with a value of $17,769,152.52 at the end of January 1998.

Among the 251 current endowments are:

     13 Distinguished Chairs

       7 Chairs

       6 Distinguished Professorships

       9 Professorships

       1 Fellowship

   193 Scholarships

     42 General Support Funds

Not only are more and more individuals, corporations and foundations making the University a philanthropic priority, more donors are recognizing the importance of a strong endowment to UTSA as it moves toward premier research university status.

Endowed chairs and professorships are very important in helping UTSA's academic leaders to continue to recruit outstanding faculty. Endowed scholarships are helping to attract some very bright and talented students to academic programs throughout the University.
