Administration (OSHA) Workshops
UTSA has partnered with UT Arlington’s Region VI OSHA Education Center to conduct Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) training curriculum. All courses are held at UTSA’s Downtown Campus and provide quality training facilitated by OSHA authorized instructors. Courses can be applied towards a professional certificate from the UT- Arlington’s Region VI OSHA Education Center. Certificates of Completion are issued to students after completing a course.

OSHA 2045 Machinery and Machine Guarding Standards
This course will help you become familiar with a wide variety of common machinery and the associated hazards of the machinery along with related safety standards and appropriate guarding methods including protection about hazardous energy sources (lockout/tagout). Participants will learn to apply hazard recognition concepts on a site inspection using a process of identifying and evaluating the machinery and machine guarding hazards; researching the related standards; and exploring hazard abatement options.

SH 701 Advanced Accident Investigation
This course will teach you how to conduct an accident investigation that will aid you in determining contributing factors that lead to the injury or fatality and how to develop a course of action to prevent future problems. You will also learn the importance of conducting a thorough investigation in a consistent manner that will, if necessary, stand up in court. This course will also teach you how to calculate the costs associated with an accident.

OSHA 501 Trainer Course for General Industry
This trainer course is designed for personnel interested in teaching the OSHA 10- or 30-Hour General Industry Outreach courses. Special emphasis is placed on required topics in the OSHA Outreach Program. Various instructional approaches and the effective use of visual aids and handouts will also be covered. Course participants will work in groups or independently to practice their presentation of selected topics. (Participants are encouraged to bring a laptop to work on presentation materials.) Written and performance examinations are given during the course. Successful completion of the course and the final examinations allow the participant to be recognized as an OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainer for General Industry.

OSHA 510 Standards for General Industry
This course covers the OSHA standards for the construction industry found in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1926 along with other relevant policies, procedures, and safety and health principles for the construction industry. Special emphasis is placed on those areas that are the most hazardous and most frequently cited by OSHA.
