3.4 - Door Stops:

Rationale:
The University Center (UC) is responsible for ensuring guests enjoy a safe environment that is free from obstructions or impediments in the case of an emergency. Door stops often prop open doors that are designed to contain fires or other hazards in the case of an emergency and could actually impede safe exit from a building. Use of door stops is also in violation of the fire code followed by the UC and UTSA.

Policy:
Doors in the UC may not be propped open using unattached devices such as wood, plastic, or metal blocks and wedges, garbage cans, or furniture, etc. Doors may be held open by event staff at the beginning or end of events or throughout the event if needed.
