3:30-4:45pm Everything You Wanted to Know About Succeeding at UTSA (But Were Afraid to Ask)
Harris Room, University Center III, UTSA Main Campus. UTSA Professors lead a session on how to succeed in and out of the classroom. Must attend to be in the drawing for an Apple iPad 2.
5:30-6:45pm Roadrunners on the River Walk – Family Headquarters  
  Come enjoy light refreshments and special UTSA prices on drinks at Rio Rio Cantina on the River Walk while you meet UTSA families, alumni, and staff. Map for Rio Rio Cantina.
7:00pm Football Pep Rally Grand Hyatt Hotel River Walk Terrace. Take the quick walk down the historic River Walk to join the UTSA Marching Band and Cheerleaders in cheers and the UTSA fight song along the Grand Hyatt’s River Walk terrace. Map for the Grand Hyatt hotel.

  •   Roadrunner Station – Live music, give-away's, concessions, and activities for the whole family.  Stop by the Family Association booth for a chance to win a Family Weekend t-shirt!
  •   Rowdy Town – Fun play area for kids and a free concert
  •   Montana Street Icehouse – Great food, cold drinks, and big screen TVs' with all the day's games
4:30-7:30pm UTSA v. South Alabama Football Game  
  Watch the Roadrunners take on the Jaguars in front of a home crowd. Make sure to buy your tickets in advance.
     

FAMILY OF THE YEAR

Contest Guidelines The essay contest is open to all UTSA students and their families. Entries must be in the form of an essay, explaining why you have the ultimate UTSA family!

The winner of the contest will receive:
$500 award donated by L&M Bookstore, gift certificate to the Marriott Residence Inn at The Rim, gift basket, four game tickets to the Family Weekend game on Oct 8th, commemorative plaque presented to you and your family by UTSA President Ricardo Romo and UTSA Parent Council President Mrs. Yvonne Cantu during the football game, your Family of the Year essay featured in the 2011-2012 edition of the UTSA Family Calendar.

Terms and Conditions of the iPad2 Drawing: Only Family Association members and their UTSA students are eligible to win the iPad2 door prize. Membership in the Family Association is free and registration is available online. Attendees must complete and submit “Door Prize Entry” cards at Fall Family Weekend events to participate. Attendees may submit one (1) card at each Family Weekend event. The winner will be selected at random on Monday, October 10, at which time the winner will be notified. UTSA Orientation and Family Programs will publish the name of the winner in the Family Connection e-newsletter and on the Family Association and Family Weekend web sites. Employees of UTSA Orientation and Family Programs and their families are ineligible to win.
