Effective the Fall 2005 semester The Graduate School revised the deadline policy for turning in the Master's thesis and the Doctoral dissertation for review and approval. The policy states that there is only one mandatory deadline for students to turn in the thesis or dissertation, with a second (earlier) recommended deadline for the first draft. Students will not be required to meet the recommended deadline for the first draft in order to have their thesis or dissertation approved by The Graduate School.

FORMATTING

  1. The Graduate School holds at least two workshops each semester to provide students with information about thesis/dissertation formatting guidelines. Please check the graduate school website for more details: www.utsa.edu/graduate .

  1. A template for the thesis/dissertation is available on The Graduate School website. www.utsa.edu/graduate .

  1. Manuscripts not adhering to the most current formatted guidelines will not be accepted under any circumstances.

DEADLINES

  1. A submission of a preliminary draft is strongly recommended. Mechanical format corrective feedback will be provided on all preliminary draft submissions. We strongly recommend taking advantage of this service.

  1. Due to the large number of theses and dissertations submitted right before graduation, there are not extensions. The final draft deadline is firm. Students that are unable to meet the final draft deadline will need to plan to graduate the following semester.
