Scholarships and Financial Aid

United States government (federal) financial assistance is not available to international students. The University of Texas at San Antonio has limited scholarship opportunities for international students.

The Good Neighbor Scholar Program provides a tuition exemption to students who were born in and are current residents of an independent nation in the American Hemisphere other than Cuba or the United States. Candidates must be on a United States Immigration Service approved and current student visa (F-1 or J-1). The candidate must intend to return to their country upon completion of his/her program of study, be admitted unconditionally at an eligible public institution, and maintain satisfactory academic progress.

The Border Counties Program for Students from Mexico allows an unlimited number of students from Mexico who have financial need to enroll at the University of Texas at San Antonio while paying the resident tuition rate. For eligibility requirements refer to the following website: http://www.utsa.edu/intprograms/bordercounty.cfm

Note: students who are selected for the Good Neighbor Program can not apply the Border Counties Program for Students from Mexico and vice versa. Most departments offer Competitive scholarships for $1,000 or more they qualify for in-state tuition. In order to be eligible for this kind of scholarship, you must be currently enrolled at UTSA and have an established UTSA grade point average.
