The Health and Wellness Expo promotes the importance of health and mental wellbeing, safety, and resources geared towards prevention, early detection, and support services. Issues of general wellness, and their impact on health status, are important to UTSA. We all must manage common general wellness issues, including stress, nutrition, physical fitness, sexual health, alcohol and drug use and primary health care among others, throughout our lifetime. By providing opportunities for students to become aware of both on and off campus resources available to them to address these issues we can raise their health status through prevention. Furthermore, on-campus opportunities to access screenings and engage in health activities they may otherwise not be aware of can raise their likelihood of continuing these behaviors throughout the year and their adult lives. This event aims to start our students off on a healthy academic year by providing education on issues most likely to affect them.
