Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are infections transmitted by intimate sexual contact, such as vaginal intercourse, anal intercourse, oral-genital contact, or genital skin-to-skin contact. Many people with an STI have NO SYMPTOMS or such mild symptoms that they are unaware they are infected. However, they can still transmit the infection to an unknowing sexual partner. Although treatment is available for all STIs, not all are curable. Even in STIs that are curable, treatment may not eliminate the possibility of long-term complications. Examination testing for STIs and for HIV are available at Student Health Services and the local health department for a nominal fee. All examinations and test results are confidential. For further information on HIV/AIDS and other STIs you may pick up free pamphlets in the Student Health Services' lobby.
