Welcome to the Honors College Advising Center's website for new freshmen who will be entering the Honors College in the fall of 2012! As your Academic Advising team, is to guide you each step of the way.
The Honors College at UTSA has three Academic Advisors. Our purpose is to guide you through the process of seeking, planning, and completing your desired degree plan. You will be able to schedule appointments to meet with us in a reasonable amount of time, we will help you plan which classes to take each semester, and we will direct you through the process of registering for those classes during priority registration! Priority registration is one of the benefits students seem to enjoy the most about the Honors College – you get to pick the courses, professors and class times you want, and then register before all other undergraduates!
This summer, when you attend Freshman Orientation -- our "Roadrunner Roundup" -– the Honors Advising team will be on hand to guide you through the process of planning and registering for fall 2012 classes. You won’t get "priority registration" this time because Orientation is mandatory and registration is restricted for new freshmen until they have completed orientation. The earlier you sign up for Orientation, the better chance you have of getting the schedule you want! This initial registration period is the only one when you will not enjoy the benefit of priority registration.
As for expectations, we already know you are a cut above the rest. You proved that in high school. It’s time to apply the talents and abilities you were born with and couple them with a strong desire to keep learning. In college, you will finally have the chance to explore the interests you have had since childhood on a level that will prepare you for a career path. College provides an opportunity to pursue your dreams, build upon them, treasure the task, and share the journey with others rowing in the same proverbial boat.
