9.19 Administration of the Student Deposit Endowment Fund

This policy is retired effective May 17, 2022.

Twice each year, prior to the end of each April and November, student property deposits eligible for forfeiture in compliance with Section 54.5021 of the Texas Education Code will be transferred to the UTSA Student Scholarship Fund.

Income from investment of the Student Scholarship Fund is to be used in awarding scholarships to needy and deserving students and in making grants under Subchapter C, Chapter 56 of the Texas Education Code, to resident students.

Scholarships not to exceed $500 per semester may be awarded to applicants who enroll at least half-time and are Texas residents.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Currently enrolled graduate or undergraduate students must have at least a 3.00 GPA for work attempted at UTSA.

  2. New transfer students must have at least a 3.25 GPA for work attempted at previous institutions.

  3. Incoming first-time freshmen must have an SAT score of at least 980 or an ACT score of at least 21.
