Application for Housing
how to ApplyUTSA students should complete an UTSA Online Housing Application and Contract. A $200.00 deposit must be submitted after you have completed your housing application and contract. $50.00 is held as a non-refundable application fee. Once you have completed your housing application and contract you will receive an email with the directions for paying your housing deposit. Before you move in to a particular complex, your application and deposit may be transferred within the UTSA housing system. The deposit will be refunded upon request, if all cancellation criteria are met and all monies owed to the particular complex have been paid. Deposits are applied against unnecessary wear and damages, and are used to deter late cancellations. The date on which the deposit is received will establish priority for particular assignments. Students choosing to live at the University Oaks or Chisholm Hall should be advised that the lease addendum contains the following provision:
Housing ApplicationFor Chaparral Village and Laurel Village applications, view the Housing License AgreementHousing Contracts/LeasesContracts/Leases are only distributed and accepted if you have been fully admitted to UTSA. Students may apply for on-campus housing at any time. Space is reserved on a first-come first-served basis. Effective January 1, 2010, the State of Texas requires that all students, new or transfer, attending UTSA, who are requesting to live on campus, must show proof of receiving the vaccination against Bacterial Meningitis. The vaccination must be obtained at least 10 days prior to checking into the residence halls, or one must provide an affidavit or certificate from a physician stating that the vaccination would be injurious to the health and well being of the student or stating that the vaccination has been declined for reasons of conscience. There may be a delay between the date of the request for the affidavit form and receipt of the form from the Department of State Health Services. Students who plan to request an exemption should make the request early enough to allow time to complete and notarize the affidavit prior to submission to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. For more information, including a printable order form, see http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/immunize/docs/faq_exemption.pdf Students may choose either:
Fall only contracts are not available at any of the four complexes. It is important that you read and understand any housing contract before you sign and make that commitment. It is important to know cancellation deadlines, penalties for leaving at mid-year or during the contract period, and eviction penalties. For Chaparral Village applications, view the Housing License Agreement.
AssignmentsBoth UTSA and Campus Living Villages (CLV) provide residential facilities on our campus. Due to contractual obligations between the University and CLV, housing assignments are based on student demographics. However, you may REJECT any assignment and be placed within the housing facility of your choice if space is available.
Roommate MatchingRoommate requests are honored when possible. Roommate requests need to be mutual. It is difficult for us to honor roommate requests when they are not mutual. Roommates must also be assigned to the same type of unit, i.e., both need to be assigned to either a 4-bedroom or 2-bedroom unit. Roommate assignments are made beginning in July so both roommates must have their roommate requests and a completed, signed contract on file in order for us to assign them together in the same room. One person cannot hold a space for another person. For residents that do not have specific roommate requests, we will match roommates together using specific criteria that we have found works best. There is no 100% guarantee that roommates will get along no matter what criteria is used in matching. However, our staff is committed to assist residents in meeting and interacting with their assigned roommates.
Dates and DeadlinesCancellation DeadlinesOnce the agreement/contract has been signed online, the cancellation deadlines must be met for any refunds to occur. Cancellation requests must be made to the specific housing complex that a student accepts. It is important that students and their parents know and understand the specific cancellation criteria for the individual complexes.
