Marietta de la Rosa (Em) - Associate Director of Residence Life and Education
Em is responsible for the Residence Life and Education portion of on-campus housing. She oversees a variety of areas in the residence halls including ongoing assessments of the Residence Education Program and critical incident follow-ups with students. She supervises four (4) Complex Coordinators (RHCs) and their focus on enhancing the living environment of staff and students through education and development. This team is responsible for staff selection, training, and assisting residents with personal or academic issues. They implement the community development model, diversity education, residence presentations, advising student organizations and Residence Hall Association, and more. They work closely with Student Judicial Affairs in resolving cases of student misconduct in the residential areas.
Em attended The University of Texas at Austin (B.A. in Psychology) and Texas State University (M.Ed. in Counseling and Student Affairs). After working at UT Austin for three years, she left Higher Education to travel abroad and do volunteer HIV/AIDS counseling. She lived in Paris, France and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and traveled extensively throughout those regions before returning to the U.S. She then worked as the Assistant Director at The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Her next stop was at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, where she served as the Living Learning Programs Coordinator. She has been the Associate Director of Residence Life and Education at UTSA since August of 2008.
Em enjoys exploring new parks and trails with her 2 dogs, going to the movies, trying new restaurants, and traveling when time permits. She is also an active member of Gold's Gym.
