Student Dining

Don’t be inconvenienced by traveling through town to find the food that you crave. With so many food choices and the convenience of your meal plan…you have got it all, right in your own back yard!

UTSA’s first student dining hall facility will open August 20th. Adjacent to Chaparral Village and Chisholm Hall, the Roadrunner Café features state of the art facilities in a fun and student friendly atmosphere.

The Roadrunner Café holds approximately 450 students at one seating, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week.

Meal Plans

The meal plans offer flexibility and convenience for the students at UTSA. Residents of Chaparral Village are required to purchase a meal plan. There are five plans available:

PlanDescription
100+ Allows you to eat 100 meals per semester which is approximately 7 meals per week
155+ Allows you to eat 155 meals per semester which is approximately 10 meals per week
175+ Allows you to eat 125 meals per semester which is approximately 12 meals per week
250+ Allows you to eat 250 meals per semester which is approximately 14 meals per week

Meal plans are for a specific semester and unused meals do not carry over to the next semester. It is important that you choose a meal plan that you feel you will use during a specific semester. New students will sign up for a meal plan each semester. Students are able to adjust their meal plans for the second semester depending on their needs.

Students are able to utilize their meal plans at any food location on campus with the exception of Subway and Starbucks. The franchise agreement does not allow for this option. The Roadrunner Café allows the students to eat "all you can eat" buffet with many choices. The other food venues allow trades to occur whereby students may exchange a meal for an equivalency such as a sandwich, fries, and drink.

Hours of Operation

Meals plans will start with breakfast the day after the official opening of Student Housing each semester. The Roadrunner Café will be open Monday through Sunday with the exception of some university holidays. The Roadrunner Café will usually be closed for Thanksgiving and Spring Break.
