First-time freshman and transfer students can access the General Scholarship Application on ApplyTexas. Returning students can access the General Scholarship Application on ASAP. Please read the scholarship application instructions carefully.

 

NOTE:  Only one General Scholarship Application is required for all General Scholarships awarded through the Scholarship Division of the Office of Student Financial Aid & Enrollment Services.

  • Preference given to students transferring to UTSA from one of the campuses of ACCD
  • Recipients must be U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens
  • Applicants other than those transferring from ACCD will have completed at least 60 credit hours

ANN BIGGS/THELMA SALAZAR SCHOLARSHIP FOR FIRST-GENERATION IMMIGRANT CHILDREN
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must be a child of first-generation immigrants to the United States. First-generation immigrant children are those who have at least one parent who immigrated to the United States. Preference will be given to children of immigrants from Mexico or Central America
  • Must enroll full time in good academic standing
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Applicants may be incoming freshmen, current undergraduates, transfer students, incoming graduate students and current graduate students. Priority will be given to students working on their baccalaureate degree
  • Freshmen applicants must show preparedness for university coursework as determined by test scores, high school rank, grades and/or coursework
    • Application Requirements: General Scholarship application and either a copy of parent's certificate of Naturalization, I-94 Arrival-Departure Record, passport, or Alien Registration Receipt Card I-551 to the Office of Student Financial Aid at the time you submit the application on ASAP. Please remember to write your name and ID on documents you turn in.

DIANE DONDERO MEMORIAL ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Awarded to incoming high school students or current UTSA freshman students enrolled as full-time students.
  • Must maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) and remain on good academic standing with the University.
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid.

EL PATRONATO DE LA CULTURA HISPANOAMERICANA SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $1,000 each ($500 per semester); number of awards varies

  • Undergraduates must have completed at least 45 semester hours at the time of application with a cumulative 2.5 GPA or better
  • Graduates must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Must enroll full time 12 semester hours; graduates at least 6 hours per semester
  • Applicants must major in Spanish, Mexican-American studies or history
    • Application requirement: General Scholarship application
    • and write a 500-word maximum essay explaining why you should be selected for the scholarship by addressing your interest in promoting the use of Spanish language and literatures and an understanding of Mexican and Hispanic-American culture

RUBEN AND VERONICA ESCOBEDO SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One award of $1,000 a year ($500 per semester)

  • Must enroll full time
  • Must be a graduate of Luther Burbank High School and must have attended San Antonio College and attained a grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Preference given to students demonstrating participation and leadership in extracurricular activities in high school and/or community college
    • Application requirement: General Scholarship application

FEDERAL MANAGERS ASSOCIATION, KELLY AIR FORCE BASE, SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Two awards of $500 each ($250 per semester)

  • Must be a dependent of a current or retired federal manager, federal supervisor or federal professional
  • Must be a resident of Bexar, Atascosa, Wilson, Medina, Kendall, Bandera, Comal or Caldwell County
  • Must enroll full time
  • Must pursue an undergraduate degree in business or a field related to public administration at UTSA
  • Incoming first-time freshmen must have graduated in the top 25 percent of their high school class and have an SAT score of at least 900 or an ACT score of at least 20
  • Must provide a copy of yours or parent's military photo ID, or copy of yours or parent's DD Form 214, OR other appropriate documentation as proof of the category you indicate on the application.
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship Application

FIFTH-YEAR ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must be a resident of Texas
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Must be enrolled at least half time
  • Must be meeting satisfactory academic progress
  • Undergraduates must have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA; graduates must have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must have completed at least 120 credit hours of college coursework, including at least 15 hours of upper level accounting
  • Must need 30 or fewer hours to complete 150 semester hours education requirement to take the CPA Examination in Texas
  • Must have filed an Application of Intent with the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy
    • Application requirements: Applications can be obtained from the College of Business Dean's Office or Financial Aid/Scholarships
    • Deadline: August 22 for fall semester; Dec. 20 for spring semester; April 25 for summer semester.

GLBTQ OF UTSA SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must enroll full time for undergraduate students and at least 6 credit hours per semester for graduate students
  • Current undergraduate students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale), and current graduate students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.01 (on a 4.0 scale).
  • Must be a member of the GLBTQ of UTSA, or its successor.
  • All else being equal, preference will be given to recipients who are willing to make a public appearance in support of the GLBTQ of UTSA when requested.
    • Application requirement: GLBTQ of UTSA Scholarship application (applications are available through the Inclusion Community and Engagement Center).  Submit a list of recent leadership and/or extracurricular activities and a 500-word essay entitled, “How my past and/or current contributions to GLBTQ of UTSA have impacted me and my future.”
    • Deadline: Varies.

DR. PATRICIA A. GRAHAM ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One or more awards; amounts vary

  • Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Must have completed 30 college credit hours for undergraduate and must have completed 9 college credit hours for graduate students
  • Must enrolled full-time for undergraduates and graduate students
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship Application 200 word essay on where do you see yourself in 10 years and how are you going to maximize your potential 10 years from now. Please include at the end of your essay, an outline or narrative explaining your campus involvement.

DAVID P. GREEN FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Three awards at $500 each

  • Must be a pursuing a degree in the health profession
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Preference will be given to students who work part-time to help finance their education (Proof of employment will be required)
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship Application

EWING HALSELL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Equal to the cost of tuition for fall and spring semesters

  • Must enroll full time with the intent of pursuing a degree in the sciences, engineering or biotechnology
  • Must be from South Texas, with preference given to students residing in rural communities in or south of Bexar County
  • Incoming first-time freshmen must have graduated in the top 25 percent of their high school class and have a minimum SAT score of 950 or a minimum ACT score of 18
  • Transfer and current UTSA student applicants must have no more than 30 semester hours and have a minimum 2.75 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid

COLONEL AND MRS. PETER J. HENNESSEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One award of $1,100 ($550 per semester)

  • Must enroll full time and pursuing a degree in business or education
  • Incoming first-time freshmen must be in the top 25 percent of high school class and have a minimum SAT score of 1100 or a minimum ACT score of 24
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid, however must not qualify for the federally funded Pell Grant

INDIAN STUDENT ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
Award: One or more awards; amount varies

  • Must enroll full-time as graduate student in the College of Engineering or College of Sciences
  • Must have a minimum 3.3 GPA in each semester attended at UTSA
  • Open to Texas residents and non-resident students
  • Preference given to registered members of the Indian Student Association
  • Students who are appointed as a Research Assistant or Teaching Assistant or who are receiving any other competitive scholarship(s) at the time of the award will not be eligible to apply.
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship application 500 word essay describing your research goals and why you should receive the Indian Student Association Scholarship; must list participation and/or leadership in community or extracurricular activities

JOHN G. AND MARIE STELLA KENEDY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Up to $2,500 a year; number of awards varies

  • Must be from South Texas Coastal Bend and the Lower and Middle Rio Grande Valley areas
  • Current UTSA and transfer students must have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better
  • First-time freshmen must have a minimum SAT score of 950 or a minimum ACT score of 21
  • Must enroll in at least 6 credit hours each semester while on the scholarship
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Will be required to participate in community service. The type and documentation of such service will be determined by the Inclusion and Community Engagement Center

LAMBDA CHI ALPHA FRATERNITY ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must enroll full time for undergraduate students and graduate students actively pursuing a degree at UTSA
  • Must be at least sophomore level and have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), with preference given to applicants with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
  • Must be an active member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity
  • Must submit documentation of community involvement by attaching a list of their participation in chapter-related functions, their participation in a t least one extra-curricular at UTSA and at least one community service program in San Antonio
  • Must submit a letter of endorsement from an alumni member of Lambda Chi Alpha and/or an endorsement from a Lambda Chi Alpha Alumni Association,including the San Antonio Alumni Association, as evidenced by a letter signed by both the President and the Secretary of the Board of Directors of the respective Alumni Association

SELDON LEAVELL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $500 each ($250 per semester); number of awards varies

  • Must be a Texas resident
  • Undergraduates must enroll full time and have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours with 12 credit hours at UTSA and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better
  • Graduate students must be enrolled full-time and have either graduated from UTSA with a 3.0 GPA or must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in graduate school at UTSA with a 3.5 or better GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship application

HARRY AND DEVERA LERMAN SCHOLARSHIP
Award: 20 scholarships to worthy students each year; amount may vary

  • Must be a resident of Bexar County
  • Must have graduated in the upper 25% of his/her high school graduating class
  • Must demonstrate significant financial need as determined by the FAFSA
  • Recipients cannot accept any other scholarships.

SENATOR GREGORY LUNA MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $1,000 a year ($500 per semester); number of awards varies

  • Must enroll full time
  • Incoming first-time freshmen must have a minimum SAT score of 900 or a minimum ACT score of 20
  • Current UTSA students must have a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Preference given to graduates of Sidney Lanier High School who reside in Senate District 26
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship application and proof of residency zip code within Senate District 26 (ex. copy of driver's license, utility bill statement, etc.)

Award: $1,000 a year ($500 per semester); number of awards varies

  • Must be a Bexar County resident and a graduate of a local high school
  • Must enroll full time

  • Must have a minimum 2.5 cumulative GPA
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
    • Application requirements: General Scholarship application and write a 300-500 word essay addressing your participation, service and leadership within the community

PAN AMERICAN LEAGUE CHARITABLE SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $1,000; number of awards vary each year

  • Must be accepted into UTSA and enroll in a minimum of 6 credit hours in an undergraduate degree program
  • Must be a resident of Bexar County
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
    • Application Requirements: General Scholarship application and write an essay of no more than 500 words on why and how the opportunity to attend UTSA will be a life-changing experience

PARICUTIN CIVIC AND EDUCATIONAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

  • Scholarships shall be provided to entering freshmen who are San Antonio residents and are U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens
  • First-time freshmen must show preparedness for the rigors of higher education through entrance test scores, high school grades, and class rank
  • Must enroll full time and remain in good academic standing while on this scholarship
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are first generation in their family to attend college, and are bi-lingual in Spanish and English

PEPSI SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts vary

  • Must enroll full time for undergraduate and graduate student actively pursuing a degree at UTSA, or its successor
  • Must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
  • This scholarship is not automatically renewable; however, current qualified applicants are encouraged to reapply providing that they maintain at least minimum institutional GPA of 3.0 and meet the enrollment criteria above.

MIKE PICKETT ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP

  • Will be awarded to the most worthy student(s) who are from a single parent household OR are a single parent themselves. Preference will be given to Criminal Justice majors.

Port of San Antonio Scholarship
Award: $2,500; Number of awards varies

  • Must be incoming first-time freshmen
  • Must be U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Must have a minimum high school GPA of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale
  • Must have a 90 percent attendance record in high school senior year
  • Must be degree seeking and enrolled full time
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Must pursue a degree in engineering, science, mathematics or business
  • Must submit two letters of recommendation
  • Preference will be given to students residing in one of the following ZIP codes: 78211,78224, 78225, 78226, 78227, 78237, 78241 and 78242
    • Application Requirements: General Scholarship application and a 500 word essay on the following topic: The Opportunity to Attain a Higher Education," and proof of residency within one of the identified ZIP codes (for example, a copy of a driver's license)

TOMÁS RIVERA SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Two awards of $500 a year ($250 per semester)

  • Must enroll full time
  • Must have completed a minimum of 60 semester hours of college coursework
  • Must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA
  • Must be from San Antonio or South Texas
  • Must be a first-generation college student and be fluent in a language other than English. The term "first-generation college student" means (A) An individual both of whose parents did not complete a baccalaureate degree; or (B) In the case of any individual who regularly resided with and received support from only one parent, an individual whose only such parent did not complete a baccalaureate degree.
  • Must demonstrate severe financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid

HENRY ROMO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
Award: Number of awards and amounts may vary

  • Must be Bexar County resident
  • Must enroll full time as undergraduate
  • Applicants may be first-time incoming freshmen, transfer and current students. First-time freshmen must demonstrate a readiness for the rigors of higher education as determined by entrance test scores, high school rank and grade point average
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Preference will be given to applicants who are the first generation in their family to attend a college or university. UTSA JOINT ADMISSION AGREEMENT SCHOLARSHIP
Award: $1500 a year ($750 per semester); number of awards varies

  • Must transfer to UTSA from one of the four colleges in ACCD
  • Must have completed Joint Admission Form on file
  • Must demonstrate financial need as determined by Student Financial Aid
  • Must complete a minimum of 50 credit hours (include hours in progress) of transferable college credit at the time of application
