** Note: The Mary Pat and Louis H. Stumberg Endowed Scholarship is available to students who are a declared minor/major in Music and a declared major/minor in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology.

The Edward Engates Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science

The Edward Engates Memorial Scholarship in Computer Science is available to undergraduate students who are declared majors in Computer Science. The number and amount of awards will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $2,000

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester). An exception may be made on a case-by-case basis when the student is not required to take 12 credit hours to graduate, provided the student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
Must be a declared major in Computer Science with a minimum of 60 credit hours completed.
Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Must be a citizen or pernanent resident of the United States.
Preference may be given to applicants who demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid.

Additional Application Requirements:

Two (2) recommendation forms completed by Computer Science faculty members.
A one to two (1-2) page essay describing the student, their specific professional goals, and how they plan to pursue those goals during and after college.

The Joseph J. Gdovin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship

The Joseph J. Gdovin, Jr. Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are declared majors in Biology (or pre-Biology) or other related life sciences. The number and amount of awards will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $1,600-$2,000

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester).
Must be a declared major in Biology (or pre-Biology) or other related life sciences at the sophomore level or above.
Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale).
Recipients must demonstrate recognizable academic merit, as determined by the selection committee.
Must demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.
This scholarship is renewable on a semester by semester basis if all selection criteria are met.

Kaplan MCAT/DAT Award

The Kaplan MCAT/DAT Award is available to undergraduate students who are pursuing degrees in the College of Sciences. The recipient will receive free enrollment in a Kaplan MCAT or DAT preparation course.
Estimated value of the award: $1,500.

Eligibility Criteria:

Recipient(s) must be enrolled in at least 12 hours and actively pursuing a degree at The University of Texas at San Antonio, or its successor. An exception may be made on a case-by-case basis when the student is not required to take 12 credit hours to graduate, provided the student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
Must be a declared major in the College of Sciences* at the junior or senior level.
Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale).

*College of Sciences majors: Biology, Chemistry, Clinical Laboratory Science, Computer Science, Environmental Science, Geology, Mathematics, Multidisciplinary Science, and Physics.

The Dr. Harold G. Longbotham Endowed Scholarship

The Harold G. Longbotham Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate or graduate students who are declared majors in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering. The amount of the award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $3,500

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester) or graduate student (at least 9 credit hours each semester).
Must be a declared major in Mathematics, Physics, Statistics, or Engineering.
Undergraduate applicants must be either a junior (minimum of 60 credit hours completed) or a senior (minimum of 90 credit hours completed).
Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale).

The Sam Madrid, Jr. Endowed Scholarship

The Sam Madrid, Jr. Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students who are pursuing a major in the College of Sciences. The amount of the award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $2,200

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester or incoming freshman for the fall semester.
Must be a declared major in the College of Sciences.*
Must have graduated from a San Antonio area high school.
Incoming freshmen must have had at least a B average in high school.
Current students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Must demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.

The Sam Madrid, Jr. Endowed Scholarship was established in the fall of 1994 and named after a native San Antonio engineer with a long record of professional and community achievement. Mr. Madrid was involved in establishing the Engineering Program at The University of Texas at San Antonio.

The Juan and Epifania Martinez Memorial Endowed Scholarship

The Juan and Epifania Martinez Memorial Endowed Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students who are pursuing a major in the College of Sciences. The amount of the award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester) or incoming freshman for the fall semester.
Must be a declared major in the College of Sciences.*
Must have graduated from a high school in the Harlandale Independent School District.
Must demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.

The North Loop 410 Association, Inc. Endowed Scholarship

This scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are declared majors in the College of Sciences. The amount of award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding. This scholarship is renewable on a competitive basis if all eligibility criteria are met.
Estimated value of the award: $300-$400

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester).
Must be a declared major in the College of Sciences.*
Must have completed at least 30 semester credit hours.
Must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2 (on a 4.0 scale).
Must be a Texas resident.

Additional Application Requirements:

Two (2) recommendation forms completed by UTSA faculty members of the student’s choice.
Written statement about the student’s most distinctive honor (300 words or fewer).

The Peter Enrique Ramirez, MD Annual Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are enrolled in the Facilitated Acceptance to Medical Education (FAME) program.
Estimated value of the award: $5,000.

Eligibility Criteria:

Recipient(s) must be enrolled in the Facilitated Acceptance to Medical Education (FAME) program.
Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.
May be renewed for up to three (3) years, as funding permits.

The Letitia and George Riley Annual Scholarship

The Letitia and George Riley Annual Scholarship is available to full-time undergraduate students who are pursuing a major in the College of Sciences. The amount of the award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $2,000

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester) or incoming freshman for the fall semester. An exception may be made on a case-by-case when the student is not required to take 12 hours to graduate, provided the student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.

The Bernard P. Sagik Memorial Scholarship

The Bernard P. Sagik Memorial Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are declared majors in the College of Sciences. The amount of the award will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $600-$700

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester).
Must be a declared major in the College of Sciences.*
Must have successfully completed at least 24 hours of course work at the University of Texas at San Antonio with an overall cumulative grade point average at UTSA of 2.8 or better (on a 4.0 scale).
Preference will be given to applicants who are of the first generation of their family to attend or graduate from an institution of higher education. Within this preference, academic merit and subsequently financial need may also be considered.
This scholarship will be renewed on an annual basis for up to four years if all eligibility criteria are met.

Stumberg Endowed Scholarship in Interdisciplinary Studies in Music and the Sciences is available to undergraduate and graduate students who are a declared minor/major in Music and a declared major/minor in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology.
Estimated value of the award: not to exceed the cost of tuition and fees

Eligibility Criteria:

Undergraduate students who are declared minors in Music with a declared major in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology.
Undergraduate students who are declared majors in Music with a declared minor or major in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology.
Graduate students who are declared majors in Music with a secondary research focus in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology.
Graduate students who are declared majors in Anthropology, Communication, Engineering (all disciplines), Psychology, Science (all disciplines), or Sociology with a secondary research focus in music.

Additional Application Requirements:

Brief essay (no less than 200 words) explaining the importance of music in your intellectual and personal life. For graduate students, the essay should include an explanation of your research areas of focus.

The Dr. B. Thyagarajan Endowed Scholarship is available to undergraduate students who are declared majors in Chemistry, Geology, or Physics. The number and amount of awards will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $1,100

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester) or incoming freshman for the fall semester.
Must be a declared major in Chemistry, Geology, or Physics at the freshman or sophomore level.
Incoming freshmen must have a minimum SAT score of 860 or a minimum ACT score of 18 and rank in the top 50% of their high school graduating class.
Current students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.6 (on a 4.0 scale).
Preference will be given to students who demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.

Note:

Selected recipients, only, will be required to write a two (2) page essay on the life of either United Farm Workers leader Cesar Chavez or India's freedom movement leader Mahatma Ghandi before the award is finalized.

The USAA Foundation Scholarship

The USAA Foundation Scholarship

This scholarship is available for undergraduate (including incoming freshmen) and graduate students who who are pursuing a major in the College of Sciences. The number and amount of awards will be contingent upon the availability of scholarship funding.
Estimated value of the award: $2,500-$3,000

Eligibility Criteria:

Must be enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student (at least 12 credit hours each semester) or graduate student (at least 9 credit hours each semester). An exception may be made on a case-by case basis when the student is not required to take the above stated number of semester credit hours to graduate, provided the student is enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours.
Must be declared majors in the College of Sciences.*
Incoming freshman must have a high school cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) and a minimum SAT composite score of 1090 (without the writing score) or a minimum ACT composite score of 24.
Current undergraduate and graduate students must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).
Must demonstrate the need for financial assistance as determined by the University of Texas at San Antonio Office of Student Financial Aid. A Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must be on file with that office by the application deadline.
