From Orientation and Transition Services:

Orientation and Transition Services is proud to present the 2007 Jason Block Outstanding Orientation Leader Award to Maric “Pooty” Allen.  The Jason Block Outstanding Orientation Leader Award is presented annually to one Orientation Leader that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to the mission, goals and purpose of orientation.  In addition, the Outstanding Orientation Leader demonstrates an exceptional ability to lead, role-model, and motivate fellow staff members.

Mr. Allen began working for Orientation and Transition Services in 2005 and has served as an Orientation Leader and a Team Leader during his tenure.  During the 2006 Roadrunner Camp, he was named Outstanding Camp Leader, as voted upon by his peers.  The Orientation and Transition Services staff could not have asked for a more professional Orientation Leader.  More important than his supervisor's opinions, are the lasting impressions he has had on his fellow Orientation Leaders.  His peers have commented in the following ways:

"He is an inspiration to us all and keeps our spirits up when we are down.  Pooty was a major part of why I chose thisjob, because I admired his character and personality."

"Pooty has been one of the cornerstones of this office for three years.  His smile and laughter are so contagious that when you're near him it consumes you.  He is one of the best people you'll ever meet."

Maric has met and exceeded all of the characteristics necessary to be the 2007 Outstanding Orientation Leader.  He is currently a senior Biology major, and plans to pursue graduate work in pharmaceutical studies.  In addition to his being named the Jason Block Outstanding Orientation Leader, he received a $500 leadership scholarship.
