Gallery 23 artist, UTSA alumna Cecelia Paz Mujica

Gallery 23 logo

Gallery 23 in the University Center has named artist and UTSA alumna Cecelia Paz Mujica as the artist for its next exhibit, which runs from March 7 through May 20, 2011. The entire UTSA Community is invited to a reception in the artist’s honor on March 24, 2011 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Mujica’s work reflects a combination of optimism for life around her, distress at past events and concern over present issues. She is no stranger to UTSA and graduated in 2006 with a degrees in art and art history. Her mural, Life Tree, is part of the university’s permanent collection and hangs in the Inclusion and Community Engagement Office. She also painted the portrait of Rowdy hanging in the Office of Student Activities. Her Sonata San Antonio was selected as the official poster of Fiesta San Antonio 2008.

“As an artist, my range of work is as diverse as life—always changing, always growing. I am ever challenging and expanding my work and creativity by trying different techniques, styles and subject matter,” said Mujica. “The one element I maintain throughout my artwork is the use of vibrant colors. Through color, I am to impart to the viewer my passion for life in its many colorful forms.”
