Thank you to everyone who made ROADRUNNER DAYS 2011 such a resounding success. Whether you faced the t-shirt lines, handed out water, bussed tables, or served hamburgers, YOU made a difference. Some of you have this work in your job description and some of you step away from your daily responsibilities. But no matter how big or small the task, it takes everyone of you to make this opening week work.
Thank you, thank you, and well done!
Best,
Gage
Dear Sir,
It is long overdue, but I want to inform you about what I believe is
superb customer service, professionalism and kindness by Ms. Kimberly
Ellicks.
My son is a 4th year student at UTSA who lives in on-campus housing. A
few years ago, my son's housing deposit was erroneously not annotated
causing him to lose his room reservation at Chapparal Village. I called
Ms. Ellicks. She acted calmly and professionally to help us through
this situation and ensured the mistake was corrected so my son had
on-campus housing.
Recently, we experienced another situation where my son needed on-campus
housing. Responding to a general e-mail from Ms. Ellicks, my son was
able to work with UTSA housing staff to submit the proper paperwork and
deposit. Ms. Ellicks then acted in a very quick and efficient way to
make his housing assignment.
As her supervisor,we wanted to make you aware. Ms. Ellicks does not
know us so she may not even recall these events. Her efficiency in
providing good service should be recognized.

Orientation Get Involved Session Team:
I would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to you, your staff and students who participated in this summer’s orientation presentation. From teaching the fight song with the Marching Band staff, the SGA President’s enthusiastic welcome, introduction of the Roadrunner Creed and to all the areas sharing their tips on how to “Get In the Game, Get Involved”… this team was energetic and passionate about UTSA. I am sure that spirit and love of UTSA was passed along to many of the incoming students for their lifetime journey as a Roadrunner.
A special thank you to Mario Rios for having the team ready throughout the presentations…and even offering up to facilitate a few!
Please share my gratitude with your staff and students who participated in any way to make the ten sessions possible. You all took the concept from good to great!
Thank you, and…
Go Roadrunners Go!

Housing and Residence Life Team:
Housing has once again had a successful Move In! While everyone on the Housing and Residence Life Team did an awesome job and worked extremely hard during the two days of Move In, The Move In planning committee worked extremely hard throughout the year to help organize the process. They got creative and did something a little different this year. They divided responsibilities up into sub-committees with sub-committee chairs. The subcommittees collaborated with external departments such as the police department and parking as well as all other areas across campus for volunteers. They communicated extensively within the UTSA community, with prospective parents and students, and with each other to coordinate logistics. They created some new initiatives such as the parent break room, signage for recycling and dollies, and the Water Monster. All of that hard work culminated in a great connection with parents and students during Move In. Thanks to everyone who made Move In 2011/2012 successful!

Mario,
There is no one more deserving of Thank you Rowdy this summer than you. You have become one of the “go-to” staff members on this campus. Whether you are organizing the purchase of the Roadrunner Days and President’s shirts, distributing the water and t-shirts for Roadrunner Days, or organizing the Homecoming Golf Tournament, you do it with professionalism and precision. Anytime I know that you are in charge of an event, I immediately relax because I know it will be handled. I also appreciate your calmness during times of pressure, your good humor when we hit a bump in the road, and your creativity when we need to jump an unexpected hurdle. UTSA is very lucky to have an employee like you and I feel lucky that you are my colleague. Thanks again and have a great fall semester.
