To: Lisa Alonzo, Director of Orientation and Family Programs
From: Zachary Madeley, Building Supervisor University Center

Lisa,
Today I pass Thank You Rowdy on to you. It was this time last year that I was finishing up my internship for my Masters degree in Higher Ed Administration. Up until that point, I didn’t get a chance to experience student affairs other than what I learned in my classes and what I experienced in the University Center. I was always impressed with seeing how each year orientation brings so many incoming students to UTSA and makes them feel at home. You and your staff get them up to speed and make them a part of the growing UTSA community. During my internship I witnessed this firsthand. The Orientation Leaders and full-time staff you have in your department are outstanding and they know how to interact with students, parents, faculty, and staff and make them feel welcome on this campus. This was something I originally saw from the outside until I got to see all of the detailed planning and long hours that go into making orientation and family programming so successful. Even though I did not attend UTSA as an undergrad, I feel that the few months I spent with your office have made me more acclimated to the UTSA community as a whole and also more experienced in the area of student affairs in my professional career. Thank you for making me a part of the Orientation and Family Programs Family!

Thank you for everything you do!
