Thankful, the Year Round

I am thankful. I am grateful. I am appreciative.

Not just in November, but all through the year.

This time of year is simply the reminder saying, “Alrighty, it’s time to give thanks.” The sheer predictability of the season, though, does not negate the feelings. My feelings of gratefulness are as real this month as the rest of the year.

I am thankful.

This year, our university has received recognition for its stellar academic curriculum and the scholarly achievement of our faculty, among other things. We are a world-ranked institution, not once, but twice. I am thankful that others know what we have known all along.

I am grateful.

I spend a lot of time in meetings regarding a variety of topics, and often it is our challenges being discussed. No matter the obstacle, I continue to be amazed at the professionalism and tenacity of our student leaders. Their thoughtful examination of the issues that face us is something for which I am continually grateful.

I am appreciative.

Our division is full of dedicated staff members going above and beyond for our students and each other. The Four C’s is not just something we talk about at monthly meetings. It is a living model that describes our services, programs and daily interactions. I am appreciative of everyone’s efforts to provide the best experience for our students.

As we prepare for the close of a memorable fall semester and look forward to the spring, I hope you take the time to celebrate why you are thankful, grateful and appreciative. It’s a great time to be at UTSA. Thank you for all you do.

Best wishes,

Sam
