Resolving to R E A C H

It is amazing how time flies! It is the holidays, winter break, or whatever you want to call it. Another semester has come and gone. Congratulations to all the December graduates!

We have a new group of UTSA alumni, so it seems to me a perfect time to reflect on who, what, and why Four C’s and REACH are important to the Division of Student Affairs as well as each individual in Student Affairs. Because we strive to meet or exceed the expectations of the Four C’s and guide our students with REACH, we should be confident that our new alumni enter the world with awesome skills. For our students who are still working towards a degree, the work continues.

Our New Year's resolutions should include a renewed focus on REACH. Here is a technique to use in the new year:

• Choose a “letter of the day” from REACH.
• Ask yourself “am I helping students meet that level of responsibility or active leadership? How can I make this a teachable moment?”

We strive for excellence everyday, so what better way to demonstrate our merit than to help our students REACH their goals.
