Spring 2013 – Workshops – UTSA Faculty
Conflict Management Strategies for Students and Instructors
Date:
Thursday, February 7
10 to 11:30 a.m.
Presenter:
Ryan McPherson
Location:
Harris Room, UC2.212

Negotiation and conflict management are an important part of the learning process, so a sound instructional design should anticipate conflict and negotiation conversations.

Without guiding communication management strategies, conflict can create a toxic atmosphere, poisoning the learning environment.

This workshop will provide you with a conflict management toolkit that will benefit your students by:

1. Encouraging them to solve problems without instructor or future employer intervention.
2. Fostering constructive conflict and healthy disagreement that can be used in the learning process.
3. Encouraging them to be more assertive and honest with instructors and peers.
