Preparing a Professional Portfolio
Date:
Thursday, April 11
10 to 11:30 a.m.
Presenter:
Barbara Millis, Director of the Teaching and Learning Center
University of Texas at San Antonio
Location:
Harris Room, UC 2.212
A professional portfolio typically consists of reflective commentary followed by appendices that contain the “artifacts” of teaching, research and service. The reflective section of your portfolio will often contain a summary of responsibilities; statement of teaching philosophy with other thoughts on research and service; future goals and plans; and a paragraph or two discussing each appendix.
This presentation will address practical issues such as selecting and organizing the material, maximizing the intended effect, and receiving feedback from others. Faculty using FAIR for promotion packets can upload appropriate sections.
Portfolios are required for key teaching awards such as the Minnie Stevens Piper awards and the Regents Outstanding Teaching Awards.
