UTSA announces new department chairs

(Aug. 17, 2005)--The UTSA Office of the Provost announces the following appointments as chair or interim chair in nine academic departments. The appointments are effective Sept. 1, 2005.
In the College of Engineering, Jeffrey Thompson, was named interim chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Chia (Rocky) Shih was named interim chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

In the College of Education and Human Development, David Thompson was named interim chair of the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies and Zenong Yin was named chair of the Department of Health and Kinesiology.
In the College of Liberal and Fine Arts, Kent Rush will chair the Department of Art and Art History, Mansour El-Kikhia will chair the Department of Political Science and Geography and Raquel Marquez will chair the Department of Sociology.
In the College of Public Policy, Ruben Martinez was named interim chair of the Department of Criminal Justice.
In the College of Sciences, Walter Ermler will serve as chair of the Department of Chemistry.
