OLLU to host Sept. 29 hurricane benefit concert

(Sept. 12, 2005)--Our Lady of the Lake University's (OLLU) student newspaper, The Lake Front, will sponsor a Hurricane Katrina benefit concert 7-9 p.m., Sept. 29 in Thiry Auditorium, 411 S.W. 24th St.

A $5 donation will be requested at the door with proceeds benefiting the Salvation Army and hurricane evacuees living in the San Antonio area.

The concert is expected to draw students from area universities and high schools and will feature Christian rock bands Naos Project, doom to bloom and Kevin Goes 2 College.

"We realize that the Salvation Army is serving up at least 400,000 free meals daily and is in need of financial assistance," said Fred Valenzuela, Lake Front editor in chief. "We felt this was a fun way to get students involved in the hurricane relief efforts."

Our Lady of the Lake University, founded in 1895 by the Congregation of Divine Providence, is a co-educational liberal arts institution with an enrollment of more than 3,000 students.
