New bus service between campuses begins Nov. 7

By Tim Brownlee
Assistant Director of Public Affairs

(Nov. 5, 2005)--VIA Metropolitan Transit begins new service routes Monday, Nov. 7, and the UTSA 1604 and Downtown campuses will benefit from the additional service.

The new service will add express route 93 to the current VIA express route 94. Like route 94, the new route will provide bus service between the UTSA 1604 and Downtown campuses. Additionally, through a continuing agreement with VIA, UTSA students, faculty and staff can ride VIA's express routes 93 and 94 free by showing a valid UTSACard.

Route 93, inbound and outbound, will make six stops including both UTSA campuses, the Shops at La Cantera, Valero Energy, University Park and Ride under Loop 1604 and Crossroads Park and Ride. A one-way trip will take approximately 55 minutes.

Route 94, inbound and outbound, will make five stops including both UTSA campuses, the Shops at La Cantera, University Park and Ride and Fiesta Texas. A one-way trip will take approximately 45 minutes.

Route 93 stops are located on the Downtown Campus at the Frio Street and Buena Vista Street bus stops. With the new service, express route 94 downtown bus stops will change. The route 94 in-bound downtown drop-off stop is at the corner of Dolorosa and San Saba streets; the outbound downtown pick-up stop is at the corner of Commerce and San Saba streets.

The 1604 Campus VIA stop is north of the Business Building in parking lot 3.
