(Jan. 18, 2006)--Senior art major Cecilia Paz Mujica took top honors in the first annual UTSA Homecoming Art Contest sponsored by the Student Homecoming Committee.

Mujica, who also was a finalist for the 2006 Fiesta San Antonio poster contest, picked up $250 and a trophy for her artwork.

The 2006 Homecoming poster, following the theme "Tradition, Spirit, Pride," will feature her artwork with UTSA mascot Rowdy Roadrunner, the Alamo and the Texas flag.

Reggie Yamanaka was awarded second in the contest, followed by Aurora Vasquez, who created a multimedia piece. Thomas Rittenhouse and Erica Sanchez each earned honorable mention.

Contest participants were asked to create a commemorative poster representative of the UTSA Homecoming tradition and this year's theme.

Homecoming 2006 is Feb. 9-11 and begins with the second annual Jazz in the Plaza event at the UTSA Downtown Campus.
