Business professor to judge World Bank competition

(Feb. 10, 2006)--Don Lien, professor of economics and associate dean of international programs in the UTSA College of Business, was named a judge for an international essay competition sponsored by the World Bank.
"It is an honor to be chosen by the World Bank to judge this prestigious competition," said Lien, the only U.S. participant selected. "Finalists will have the opportunity to present their papers at a national conference in Tokyo and qualify for internship opportunities."

RSS FeedsLien has been instrumental in the expansion of the College of Business' Asian programs, which now include six universities in China as well as programming with the Bank of Beijing. A world-renowned researcher, Lien has published more than 180 papers in academic journals in the fields of economics, finance and statistics.
The essay competition is open to participants between the ages of 18-25. Panelists are asked to share their experiences and ideas on how they solve community problems or how they influence decision making. The essays can be submitted online in English, Spanish or French. The deadline for submission is April 2, 2006.
