Telephone scammers attempt to collect personal information

(Sept. 19, 2006)--The UTSA Office of Information Technology has received reports of UTSA students and employees being contacted by telephone regarding the recent security breach at the university.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be from UTSA requesting personal information such as a Social Security number, DO NOT provide this information.

To report this type of activity or any other suspicious activity, contact the UTSA Police Department at (210) 458-4299.

UTSA will not attempt to make contact and solicit any personal information regarding this security incident. All official communication from UTSA has been sent in the form of e-mail messages and letters through the U.S. Postal Service.
