Air Force ROTC hosts Nov. 3 Thunderbird presentation

(Nov. 2, 2006)--The UTSA Air Force ROTC will host lead solo Air Force Thunderbird pilot Maj. Brian Farrar and his crew chief Staff Sgt. Justin McCormick at 9:15 a.m., Friday, Nov. 3 in Main Building Room 0.104 on the 1604 Campus. The event is free and open to the public.
Farrar and McCormick will provide a short presentation including a video featuring some of the Thunderbirds famous maneuvers, and then accept questions from the audience.

RSS FeedsThroughout the world, the U.S. Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron Thunderbirds perform precision aerial maneuvers to exhibit the capabilities of modern high-performance aircraft. The squadron exhibits the professional abilities of Air Force personnel who fly, maintain and support the aircraft.
The squadron will perform at the Lackland Air Fest on Saturday and Sunday, Nov. 4 and 5.
Farrar, 36, flies the No. 5 jet as the lead solo pilot and is a native of Virginia Beach, Va. He entered the Air Force in 1994 after receiving his bachelor of science degree in civil engineering from the Virginia Military Institute.
Currently, UTSA Air Force ROTC Detachment 842 consists of 173 students and is the second largest in Texas. Each year, Detachment 842 commissions 25 to 35 Air Force officers. In 2005, the U.S. Air Force invested $600,000 in scholarships for UTSA Air Force ROTC cadets.
