UTSA hosts Feb. 27 forum: 'State of Black San Antonio'

(Feb. 23, 2007)--As part of Black History month, the UTSA Department of Political Science and Geography African-American Studies program will host a panel discussion, "The State of Black San Antonio," from 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the Durango Building Southwest Room (1.124) at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

Panelists will discuss the socioeconomic, political and educational conditions of African-Americans in San Antonio.
Free and open to the public, the forum will include opening statements from the panelists, followed by audience comments and questions.
Panelists include:
- Byron Miller, Miller-Lucek Insurance and Financial Services president and past president of East Area Business Council of Greater San Antonio Chamber of Commerce
- T.C. Calvert, San Antonio Observer president
- Kathy Clay-Little, African-American Reflections publisher and KSJL radio host
- Carol Adams Means, UTSA communication instructor
- Gary Houston, UTSA political science and geography lecturer
- Mario Salas, UTSA political science and geography adjunct professor and former District 2 city councilman
- Thomas Rockeymore, former president of NAACP San Antonio chapter
