(March 2, 2007)--The second annual UTSA College of Business Signature Speaker Series Feb. 21 featured a keynote address by August A. Busch III, former chairman of Anheuser-Busch Companies Inc.

The lecture was presented by Wachovia, one of the nation's largest diversified financial services companies. The event included a keynote address by Busch and an awards program honoring College of Business alumni. Proceeds from the series benefit student scholarships and programs in the College of Business.

Busch outlined the core principles he used throughout Anheuser-Busch, the Anheuser-Busch planning process and his personal principles for success. Attendees sampled several of Anheuser-Busch's latest beverage innovations and watched popular commercials from this year's Super Bowl. Another highlight of the evening was Busch's announcement that everyone in attendance would receive two tickets to SeaWorld San Antonio.

Under the direction of Karan Bhanot, UTSA professor of finance, a group of students selected from the M.B.A. program spent several weeks analyzing Anheuser-Busch. The students met Busch before the dinner to discuss topics ranging from CEO compensation to the value of stock buy-backs for shareholders.

Two distinguished alumni also were also honored at the event. Jeanie Wyatt, M.B.A. '86, CEO and chief investment officer of South Texas Money Management Ltd., received the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award. In 2000, Wyatt established South Texas Money Management, one of the fastest-growing investment advisory firms in the country focused on high-net-worth clients. A.J. Rodriguez, '98, M.B.A. '00, president and CEO of the San Antonio Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, received the Young Alumnus of the Year award.
