Lawson Magruder to speak at alumni breakfast

(March 27, 2007)--The UTSA Alumni Association hosts Lawson Magruder III, UTSA research professor in the Institute for the Protection of American Communities and retired U.S. Army lieutenant general, at the next Connections Breakfast at 7:15 a.m., Tuesday, April 3 at the Marriott Northwest hotel, Loop 410 at Interstate 10.

Magruder will speak on "Leading in a Disconnected World: Effective Leadership in the Information Age." UTSA President Ricardo Romo will make introductory remarks.

For more than four decades, Magruder has coached professionals, mentored leaders and built highly efficient professional teams. He led soldiers in combat in Vietnam and Somalia and commanded three Army organizations.

After 32 years of service, Magruder transitioned from the U. S. Army into the corporate culture, building enduring research partnerships in homeland security, sharing his leadership journey at seminars and conferences, and serving as a personal coach for business leaders.

He and his partners developed the Authentic Leader Institute, a unique program developed for mid- to senior-level leaders committed to building passionately engaged teams by raising the bar for effective leadership.

Admission to the Connections Breakfast is $20 for UTSA Alumni Association members and UTSA students, $25 for non-members. Breakfast is at 7:45 a.m. with the program beginning at 8 a.m.
