Whitmire was selected because of her leadership as president of the Society of Women Engineers (SWE). She has worked hard to promote SWE and the College of Engineering, including serving as a volunteer mentoring middle and high school students who are interested in engineering.
Additionally, she represents UTSA on the San Antonio-based nominating committee working to bring the Region C SWE conference to San Antonio. Through her leadership, SWE has participated in a variety of national and regional programs.
"We congratulate Bria, and thank her for being such an active member of the UTSA community," said Barry McKinney, UTSA director of student activities.
