UTSA students create play about Chicano life

(April 25, 2007)-- Students in the Chicano Drama class of UTSA English professor Norma Cantu will present an original play, "How We Cope: Chicano Perspectives," at 8 p.m., Thursday, April 26 and 6 p.m., Friday, April 27 in the Buena Vista Theater (1.326) at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

RSS FeedsFrom breakfast tacos to protests, the play addresses stereotypes and sociopolitical issues faced by today's Chicanos. The performances are free and open to the public.
"This has turned into an amazing team project," said student Liz Burt. "The entire class is involved in one way or another with writing teams, directing, musical composers, actors, lighting and costume design. It has been a tremendous experience for everyone involved."
