Faculty invited to submit NIH grant proposals
(July 15, 2008)--The UTSA Minority Biomedical Research-Support of Continuous Research Excellence (MBRS-SCORE) program is accepting grant proposals from tenured and tenure-track faculty. Proposals will be submitted to the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Foundation.

RSS FeedsThe next submission period for SCORE proposals to NIH is Sept. 25, but research abstracts must be submitted by July 28 to the UTSA SCORE program office in Biotechnology, Sciences and Engineering Building Room 1.626 on the 1604 Campus.
Housed in the Center for Research and Training in the Sciences, the MBRS-SCORE program works to engage faculty members in the research training of UTSA minority students and to develop diverse, biomedical and behavior-related research capabilities of faculty.
Currently, the program supports 22 research projects. Sixteen (9 biology, 4 chemistry and 1 mechanical engineering, 1 physics and astronomy and 1 earth and environmental science) by a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for the period Aug. 1, 2003-July 31, 2007, with a one-year extension and six new research projects (3 biology, 2 chemistry and 1 psychology) awarded Sept. 1, 2007. The funding is approximately $13.6 million for four years.
