Photography by Julius Gribou featured in exhibit

(Sept. 12, 2008)--A photography exhibit featuring work of UTSA Executive Vice Provost Julius Gribou, Christopher Oliver and Marie Swartz runs through Nov. 10 at the gallery-cafe, At the Radius, at 106 Auditorium Circle in downtown San Antonio. The photographic styles in the exhibit range from realistic to abstract to surreal.

The Gribou work was curated by Arturo Almeida, curator of the UTSA Art Collection. An architect with more than 20 years of international networking experience, the style of Gribou's photography befits his roots. Gribou previously served at UTSA as founding dean of the College of Architecture.

He earned a master's degree in architecture from the University of Illinois and a bachelor's degree in design from the University of Florida. He was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to Poland in 1991, where he conducted research on the country's historic preservation systems. He came to UTSA from Texas A&M University in 2000.

Joan Grona of the Joan Grona Gallery curated the photography of Oliver and Swartz. Christopher Oliver's work is of an abstract nature, while Marie Swartz' pieces have a surreal style.

Gallery hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday-Friday, through Sept. 26 and 7 a.m.-9 p.m., Monday-Friday, from Sept. 29 to Oct. 31.
