News Update: UTSA operations proceed Sept. 12-13

(Sept. 12, 2008 -- 12:15 p.m.)--As of 11:45 a.m., Sept. 12, UTSA administrators determined that offices, classes and programs at the three UTSA campuses will operate as scheduled Friday, Sept. 12 and Saturday, Sept. 13.

Because the safety of the UTSA community is of top concern, UTSA officials will continue to monitor the status of Hurricane Ike. In the greater San Antonio area, 20 mph winds and rain showers are likely Saturday. Those traveling should use their own best judgment.

In the event of extreme, hazardous weather conditions that could endanger the UTSA community, messages will be sent via the Reverse 911 system (text, phone and e-mail) to those individuals affected; registration is required to receive messages. At the 1604 Campus, the Giant Voice outdoor mass notification system will be utilized.

To prepare for possible bad weather and arrival of high winds, UTSA staff members began Thursday to remove some outdoor trashcans, furniture, temporary signs and banners.
