SGA seeks applicants for student regent

(Oct. 7, 2008)--The UTSA Student Government Association is accepting nominations for student representative to the UT System Board of Regents. Each UT System student government is charged with nominating up to five students from their campuses who have expressed interest in a position. The application deadline is Nov. 10.

Nominations will be presented to the UT System chancellor, who will recommend to the governor at least two students for appointment.
The student regent position was created during the 2005 legislative session, and is a non-voting member of the Board of Regents. The student appointed to the position will serve one year from June 1, 2009, to May 31, 2010.
Application packets are available at the Office of Student Activities at the 1604 Campus (University Center Room 1.210) or the Downtown Campus (Durango Building Room1.302). Packets also are available in the Student Government Association office and on the SGA Web site. The packet includes details on the time commitment and other state guidelines for the position.
