UTSA business college hosts tourism panel, job fair

(Feb. 2, 2009)--The UTSA College of Business Tourism Management Program will host two events this week to spotlight the tourism industry and career opportunities for business students.

A panel discussion, "Careers in Tourism," is 12:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3 in the Business Building University Room (2.06.04), 1604 Campus. The discussion will be led by Cesar Cantor, general manager of the Omni Hotel, and Della Guidry, president of PRA San Antonio.

Both executives will share their expertise in hotel and event management, discuss the variety of management positions available in the tourism industry and discuss how students can begin careers in this field.

Students can learn about career opportunities at the Tourism Industry Job Fair, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 5 in the Business Building University Room (2.06.04). Career opportunities are available with local and regional companies.

The UTSA College of Business offers a bachelor of business administration degree in marketing with a tourism concentration as well as a graduate level MBA concentration in tourism destination development. The college's tourism management program provides graduates a solid foundation in core business principles to equip them for tourism management positions worldwide. Students are exposed to the industry through networking programs, professional organizations and internship positions.

The tourism industry events are sponsored by the College of Business Tourism Management Program, College of Business Center for Student Professional Development and UTSA Career Services.
