University Excellence Awards ceremony is April 14

(Feb. 18, 2009)--It's time once again for UTSA faculty and staff members to submit nominations for the UTSA University Excellence Awards. The University Excellence Awards program honors outstanding UTSA staff members across the Tri-campuses who demonstrate excellent work performance.

The nomination deadline is 5 p.m., Friday, March 6.

Additionally, the Tri-Campus faculty and staff members are invited to nominate individuals or work teams for the Richard S. Howe Excellence in Service to Undergraduate Students Award. The award is presented to faculty and staff members who have shown exemplary commitment to UTSA undergraduates and have gone above and beyond the call of duty in service to UTSA undergraduate students. The recipient or recipients of this award could receive up to $2,000.

The University Excellence Awards ceremony is 2 p.m., Tuesday, April 14 in the University Center III Ballroom (UC 1.104), 1604 Campus. UTSA employees who have reached milestones in their length of service with UTSA will be recognized at the ceremony. Additionally, 2008 retirees will be invited to return to campus to receive a token gift of appreciation.

"Our most valuable asset at UTSA is our people, and our university is rapidly becoming a premier research university, thanks to the endless hours of dedication from our employees," said UTSA President Ricardo Romo. "It is important that we take the time to recognize and honor those who go beyond the call of duty. This is why I encourage you to take the time to nominate your colleagues for the University Excellence Awards."

An award of $1,000 will accompany each of these awards:
