S.A. mayoral debate replay available March 23

(March 20, 2009)--The San Antonio mayoral debate hosted Wednesday evening, March 18 at UTSA will be available for viewing by Time Warner Cable customers on San Antonio on Demand channel 988 beginning Monday, March 23 and continuing throughout the mayoral campaign. Customers with a digital set-top box can watch the full debate replay at their convenience 24 hours a day, any day.

Sponsored by the UTSA Alumni Association, UTSA Student Government Association and the San Antonio Association of Hispanic Journalists, the 90-minute debate was open to the public and broadcast live exclusively on Time Warner Cable digital channel 50.

Featuring candidates Julian Castro, Diane Cibrian, Trish DeBerry-Mejia and Sheila D. McNeil, it was the first debate where all four mayoral hopefuls met head to head. KENS-TV news anchor Deborah Knapp moderated the event.

Candidates responded to audience-provided, pre-recorded and e-mailed questions. A UTSA sponsoring committee selected questions for the broadcast.

Additional mayoral candidates not participating in the debate were Lauro Bustamante, Michael "Commander" Idrogo, Napoleon Madrid, Julie Iris Oldham and Rhett R. Smith.
