(May 13, 2009)--While San Antonio celebrated Fiesta, so did the UTSA Office of Human Resources Training and Development with the recent Fiesta-themed third annual celebration for graduates of the Administrative Support Toolbox Series. The recognition event highlighted the accomplishments of the 17 most recent graduates of the six-part series, along with other UTSA staff who attended one or more classes in the series.

The Fiesta-themed celebration included Mexican food, group activities and a graduation ceremony with the presentation of certificates of achievement. Members of the UTSA Mariachi Ensemble added a bonus to the program as they serenaded the graduates and other guests.
The April 22 special event coincided with the annual National Administrative Professionals Day, recognizing the vital contributions of administrative professionals throughout the United States. The UTSA event centered on the theme, "VIVA los Admins," with VIVA standing for "valuable, important, vital assistants."
The Administrative Support Toolbox Series consists of six classes that focus on key functional areas carried out by UTSA administrative staff. The classes provide a high-level overview of the functions, services and resources of each area. Subject matter experts from each of the six areas present important and useful information to class participants. The series runs on a six-month cycle with one class monthly. This allows administrative professionals to attend class as their schedules permit and to complete the series according to their own timelines.
