UTSA Campus Recreation hosts 2 million visitors

(May 22, 2009)--The UTSA Campus Recreation Center hosted its two-millionth visitor at 4:50 p.m., April 29. UTSA history graduate student Jessica Carr walked through the south entrance of the facility on her way to a workout and was surprised by a balloon and confetti drop, crowd applause and the presentation of a Campus Recreation "goodie bag."

The Campus Recreation Center is a state-of-the-art facility that features an indoor jogging track, weight/strength and conditioning rooms, four dance and performance studios, indoor soccer, four racquetball courts , table tennis lounge, smoothie bar, four basketball courts that convert in five volleyball courts, two badminton courts, nutrition demonstration kitchen, fitness and nutrition assessment room, massage therapy room, locker rooms, and the tallest indoor collegiate rock climbing walls in Texas.
The aquatics area features two sand volleyball courts, three lap lanes, two hot tubes with grottos and two cold spas, outdoor basketball court, a leisure pool area that converts for water volley and basketball, an island and lounge area, and a lazy river.
Since 1998, the UTSA Campus Recreation Center has provided a variety of premier recreational and wellness opportunities for the UTSA community.
